The CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and IAA (Irish Aviation Authority) have confirmed the closure of airports in parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland (Belfast, Derry, Edinburgh and Glasgow Prestwick) from 06:00 GMT to at least 14:00 GMT today (5th May) due to risks from volcanic ash. The closure of Dublin and Knock airports is confirmed from 11:00 GMT until at least 16:00 GMT, and the closure of Cork and Kerry from 13:00 GMT until at least 16:00 GMT. Forecasts show the 60 nautical mile buffer zone imposed around high concentrations of ash is close to some northern airports.
